Nice vs Caen PREVIEW & PREDICTION 20/04/2019

Olympique Nice remained unbeaten in the final round of the fourth round in a row, while Caen again became the bearer of the red lantern after defeating Angers. Can Caen stunt a visit to Nice?

Olympique Nice:

Olympique Nice is not busy with an overly spectacular season this season under the leadership of Patrick Vieira, as witnessed by the 0-0 draw of last round of play against Stade Rennais, but also often enough shows that defending is also a quality. With only 23 goals in 32 games this season, an average of only 0.72 goal per game is scored, but on the other hand, only 32 goals were collected, or on average only 0.91 per game. In addition, the last three games each time held the zero, leaving Olympique Nice in fifth place – which, with Paris Saint-Germain’s cup win, entitles them to participate in the fourth heat of the Europa League – is just three points.

The remaining program of Olympique Nice is quite interesting, because in the last six games of the season, Patrick Vieira and his team still have four teams that are currently fifteenth or lower in the competition (AS Monaco, Caen, En Avant Guingamp and Nantes ), but also two teams from the top four (Paris Saint-Germain and AS Saint-Étienne). A major advantage for the Vieira team is that four of the last six games are played in its own Allianz Riviera. With sixteen points from the last six home games, the Nice team will therefore enter the final phase of the competition with complete confidence.

Caen:

Based on the game shown in the last few weeks, Caen appears to be the team with the best chance of finishing last in Ligue 1. Two weeks ago, although a better AS Monaco was won 1-0, in total, only three points were scored from the last six games and that is simply not enough for retention. In the previous round Caen lost in-house 1-0 to low-flyer Angers and because direct competitors Dijon and En Avant Guingamp both played a draw, the red lantern is again in the hands of the team of Fabien Mercadal.

At the start of the season, Caen showed that he could still play football properly and after eight rounds the team was even tenth, but since the 25th round, the team from Normandy was no longer above the relegation line. Given that on average no less than 1.47 goals are collected per match, that is not surprising, certainly not because the Ligue 1 did not score more than twice in a match. Caen scored two goals six times and all those matches were not lost (two wins, four draws), but that was all before the winter break.

PREDICTION: Nice to win @ 1,75
