Jong AZ vs Dordrecht PREVIEW & PREDICTION 18/01/2019

In the basement of the Kitchen Champion Division, Jong AZ and FC Dordrecht compete against each other on Friday-evening. The Alkmaarders succeeded last weekend to surprise the promising team of FC Utrecht, while Dordrecht had to watch with great dismay how FC Den Bosch grabbed the second period title at the Krommedijk.

Jong AZ:

The weekend without AZ’s victory finally came to an end last weekend. The last and only victory of this season was from September 14, when home Go Ahead Eagles was beaten 3-2. The fact that it took two used penalties by Ferdi Druijf for this is perhaps telling. When visiting the promising team of FC Utrecht, the team gave the trainers Koen Stam and Michel Vonk surprisingly another reason to cheer. The Alkmaarders were at a disadvantage for rest, but they still bothered in the second half.

After fourteen match without victory, Jong AZ hopes to finally get good results again, but this will have to be done without top scorer Druijf. The easy-scoring striker since last week, namely on a rental basis, the season at NEC. Druijf scored thirteen times before the winter break for AZ’s promising team and thus accounted for almost sixty percent of the total goal production. It remains to be seen whether they can accommodate his departure in the remaining part of the competition.

Dordrecht :

FC Dordrecht went last weekend with hard numbers in its own home against leader FC Den Bosch, which thanks to this victory the second period title grabbed. The people from Dordrecht came into the lead in the first half, but managed to repair that before half time. After the tea break, Daniël Breedijk’s own goal and Antonio Stankov’s error led to a 1-3 deficit. Due to three other counter-goals, the away team only went further. A FC Den Bosch that played something and was in blood form was of course the last thing that the new trainer Claudio Braga had hoped for.

The Portuguese coach recently took over from interim trainer Scott Calderwood, after Gérard de Nooijer was dismissed by the board because of disappointing presentations. Braga hopes for the closing of the winter deadline, of course, still a great opportunity, because of Norwich City mercenary Adam Philips it is still questionable whether he will actually make the temporary switch.
