Gent vs St Etienne PREVIEW & PREDICTION 19/09/2019

On Thursday, September 19th, starting at 20:00 pm, Gent will meet St. Etienne in the first round of Group I of the Europa League.

The host team obtained the qualification in the Europa League groups after passing the preliminary tours of the Future, AEK LArnaca and Rijeka. Things are going well in the internal competition for the group coached by Jess Thorup where he occupies the 4th place with a total of 13 points gathered in 6 games. It is worth noting that Gent has the second best offensive in the first Belgian league with 16 goals scored and the best attack on his own field with 14 hits in 4 games. Also noteworthy is the fact that Gent is unbeaten in the last 8 official matches at Ghelamco Arena, during which time he scored 27 goals.

In the summer, Jean-Louis Gasset left the guest bench, and the new coach, Ghislain Printant does not have the best start of the season. St. Etienne was directly qualified in the Europa League groups, and in the championship he has only one victory in the first 5 rounds. Thus, the “greens” are 15th in the domestic competition with a total of 5 points and only two teams in Ligue 1 have received more goals this season.

Gent is the team in better shape at the moment, the team of Jess Thorup playing well on their own ground, while the French group is far from impressing under the leadership of the new coach, Ghislain Printant.
