Genoa and Torino will close the season in the middle. With the hosts that makes for satisfaction, while the fans of the team from Turin had hoped for more.
Genoa:
The fact that Genoa is currently quite anonymous in twelfth place will often lead to happy faces for the supporters. The formation from Genoa scolded at one point against the bottom three places, but a disaster scenario was later prevented. Davide Ballardini, who took over the helm during the season from the sacked Ivan Juric, ensured that a considerable gap was created with the dreaded line and that is why the mission was actually successful. Genoa is going to finish twelfth or thirteenth and that is a lot better than the sixteenth place of last season.
The fact that Genoa has already played safely can be seen in the results of the past weeks, because they are certainly not impressive. At the end of April, 3-1 was won from low flyer Hellas Verona, but that was the only victory in a series of five games. The other four matches all ended in a loss. Last week, Genoa even lost to Benevento last number by a goal in the 87th minute from Cheick Diabaté: 1-0.
Ballardini now hopes that his players are still motivated enough to treat the fans in the last game on something nice. Mattia Perin, the regular goalkeeper, will not be able to take action due to an injury. The goalkeeper has had a good season and is about to make the switch to Juventus. Eugenio Lamanna will replace him.
Torino:
Torino will close this season as number ten and with that the formation from Turin ends a position lower than last year. The formation of trainer Walter Mazzarri fought a long time for the European places, but by the end of the season it appeared that teams such as AC Milan, Atalanta Bergamo and Fiorentina had something more to offer. They performed more stable and created a hole with Torino. For Torino, nothing is at stake in the last game of the season. It is already certain that the Mazzarri team will finish tenth.
In recent weeks the form was not to write home about and therefore Torino lost the connection with the subtop. Only one of the last six games was converted into winnings and that is simply too little when a ticket for the Europa League is the goal. Last week there was also won from low-flyer SPAL, but it was not really convincing. Lorenzo de Silvestri put the 2-1 final score on the board in the 87th minute.
Torino seems to be already with the head at the next holiday to sit and therefore it is still the question if the players can still charge themselves for the away match against Genoa. Mazzarri can also draw on a nice potential. The injury list is not too long.
