Eindhoven FC vs Excelsior PREVIEW & PREDICTION 28/02/2020

The smallest BVOs from Rotterdam and Eindhoven meet in the final match of the third period. Both teams can therefore look back on a moderate period, in which they (most likely) did not get any further than the right-hand row.

FC Eindhoven:

Since 2016 FC Eindhoven can be found in the right-hand row of the Kitchen Champion Division and the blue and white part of Eindhoven hopes for more every year. With Ricardo Moniz and David Nascimento, FC Eindhoven has had several trainers in recent years, but this year it appears that even the experienced Ernie Brandts can no longer get out of it. It goes especially wrong in the away games, while FC Eindhoven managed to perform better outside the home last season than in the Jan Louwers Stadium. The number of counter goals is also very high and the people of Eindhoven regularly get three or four. In the previous game against Excelsior, FC Eindhoven scored four times, but as they collected five, Brandt’s team eventually lost.

Last Monday FC Eindhoven played a special game, as in the away game against Young AZ FC Eindhoven missed twelve (!) Selection players due to injuries and suspensions. A lot of bets were made for a home win of the AZ promises. Yet after more than half an hour it was 0-3 for the Eindhoven team, thanks to two hits from Rigino Cicilia who made his tenth of the season. Samy Bourard also scored. In the first half, Ferdy Druijf scored the connection goal, but after a minute the ball was on the other side of the net again. Justin Ogenia scored with a long shot and it was Cicilia again with the assist. In the 81st minute, Thijs Oosting scored the 2-4 and determined the final score.

Excelsior:

The relegant from the Premier League is going through a difficult season in the Kitchen Champion Division. Particularly in the defensive sense, it is impossible to tie a rope, because there are no fewer than four teams in the competition that have more goals than Excelsior. These are two teams of promises, the penultimate one and the last one. For a club that has played in the Premier League for the past five years, this number is bizarre. Head coach Ricardo Moniz was sent off the lane, but under the leadership of Marinus Dijkhuizen – and with the winter defensive reinforcements – the problem still seems to be solved. Since the arrival of Dijkhuizen, there have been two wins and two draws. That is an undefeated status that the previous head coach did not yet achieve.

Excelsior met FC Den Bosch last round in its own home. There seemed to be little to worry about when Excelsior went into the break with 2-0 after goals from Elias Omarsson and Rai Vloet. Nevertheless, the people of Rotterdam managed to cash in three goals after fifteen minutes after the tea, so that it faced a 2-3 deficit. Luigi Bruins scored the tying run from eleven meters, but a few minutes later FC Den Bosch striker Pedro Marques completed his hat trick by scoring the 3-4. The last twenty minutes showed the Rotterdammers resilience and Joël Zwarts, Ahmad Mendes Moreira and Vloet scored in the final phase. In a particularly spectacular game, Excelsior defeated the Bosschenaren 6-4.
