Crystal Palace – Hull City: 14th May 2017
Premier League, round 37. Crystal Palace had a great deal of retreat but now he is in the lead. Palace (16th place, goal 46-61), has a home game with Hull (18th place, goal 36-69). Only one victory gives them hopes of rescuing “tigers”, but Sam Allardyce’s team still needs points to be sure they get rid of the red area.
It’s a match where we expect tense moments, but none of the bands will enter the field with the thought of defending. Sure, for Palace a point would be a reasonable result, but Hull needs a win and has an opponent in front of whom he can hope for points. The tour was 3-3, after a game with many defensive defects but full of drama and occasions. In the previous 4 straight games it did not happen that both teams will score and the victories are divided (two for each club and two draws).
Palace has a goal 0-8 in the last 3 stages
Crystal Palace won a huge victory in Liverpool last month, but has since lost 3 consecutive stages with Tottenham, Burnley and Man. City, goal 0-8. Hull has a defeat in the last 3 rounds and comes after a surprising 0-2 home with Sunderland, a result that complicated the situation of Mario Silva’s team. But Hull has the ability to create danger to Hennessey’s gate, especially as Crystal Palace’s defense is far from infallible.
The problem of “tigers” is that they do not really get points on the move. There is a big difference between how they are at home and how they are on the pitch: 17 consecutive stages without victory outside! Crystal Palace comes after the three defeats I said and will try to stop the bleeding, and the fact that in the last 3 games of Hull scored no more than two goals it says something about the importance of each phase for the Nordic team.
