Friday, at 19:45, Cork City receives Bohemians’ visit in the 6th round of the Irish Premier League. The hosts are a corner of local football, while Bohemians is a midfield team that has begun surprisingly well this season.
Bohemians is second in the rankings and has not lost in the first five stages (three wins and two draws), having a goal 5-1. Therefore, the morale in the guests’ camp is definitely at great odds! Cork, on the other hand, has already lost two matches out of five and is ranked 7th (goal 6-7). If he wants to stay in contact with the lead squadron, Cork needs to recover the shortage, especially as Shamrock Rovers and Dundalk have started out as a cannon and will be the main rivals for the title for green-white in the current season.
Cork comes after an encouraging win, 4-3 on Finn Harps, but coach John Caulfield has asked his students for more concentration in the defensive: the Tuners Cross team received 5 goals in the previous two stages, mostly due to non-synchronization in the central area. Bohemians started the season with three wins in a row, 1-0 with Finn Harps and Shamrock Rovers and 2-0 at UC Dublin, but then drew with Waterford (0-0) and Derry City (1-1). The difference in value is clearly in favor of Cork, but Bohemians has scored in the previous three straight duels and certainly comes with offensive intentions on the field of rivals Friday night.
The last direct duel took place in the Irish Cup in September 2018, when Cork won 2-1. In the championship, Cork made 1-0 on his own, but lost 2-4 away games after a very spectacular game. We are expecting a good pace and a win at the limit of our favorite Friday night, but there are great chances to see goals on both sides. At Bohemians we will be watching the Corcoran scorer (3 successful this season), while the main striker of the hosts will be Morrissey, author of three goals so far. There are two of the valuable bands of the championship and we should witness a good rhythm game.
PREDICTION: Cork City to win @ 1,77
