CFR Cluj vs Viitorul Constanta PREVIEW & PREDICTION 14/02/2020

CFR Cluj – Viitorul Constanța, will be held on Friday from 18:00 on the stadium “Dr. Constantin Radulescu ”, the match counting for the XXV round of this regular season of League 1.

After 24 rounds, CFR Cluj is the leader in the first league with 48 points while Viitorul Constanța is 6th with 38 points.

The stake of the three points put into play in “Gruia” is huge especially for Gică Hagi’s team. The defeat suffered in the previous round at Ovidiu with the University of Craiova, score 2-1, complicated the situation of the Future in the standings. The Dobrogens were beaten by FC Botosani, and before the confrontation in “Gruia” is on the 6th place, the last one that ensures the presence in the play-off, just a point away from Gaz Metan Mediaș, team on the 7th place with 37 points.

As against Viitorul, the Transylvanians will have a seemingly easier match in this round, having to play away with the Clinceni Academy. Or a possible failure or semi-failure of the Future on the field of the champion, in conjunction with a victory of the Gas in Clinceni would cause the two to make the sprint, the Future risking to reach the 7th place before the last stages of the regular season of League 1!

This is also the reason why for the team prepared by Gică Hagi, it is only the victory that keeps them high in the fight for the play-off.

The chance of the Future in “Gruia” could be represented by the fact that CFR Cluj has a five point advance at the top of the hierarchy of League 1 against the University of Craiova and FCSB, formations that in turn have complicated matches in this round and will evolve away with Poli Iași and Dinamo and have little chance of reducing the gap with the champion.

On its own ground, CFR Cluj is unbeaten this season with 11 wins and a draw, and in 10 of these matches, the champion did not receive a goal!

However, for this duel with the Future we have to take into account a very important aspect and we must not exclude the possibility that Dan Petrescu’s students will be thinking about the duel with Sevilla in the 16-match Europa League which will take place next week.

In the perspective of this European duel, the “Bursucul” could manage some heavy parts, to have them 100% with Sevilla, which would somehow ease the mission of the Hagi band to leave with points or points from “Gruia” and to remain with high chances of qualifying in the play-off.

It will be for the 22nd time in League 1 when the two teams will face each other. CFR Cluj has a slight advantage, having 10 victories over the 8 doubles, the remaining three games ending indecisively.
