CELTA VIGO VS MALAGA PREVIEW & PREDICTION

Celta de Vigo is still allowed to dream of European football, but will have to settle in the Balaidos on Sunday evening with the last team from Malaga. The Andalusians are working on a dramatic series and need a Houdini stunt to escape degradation.

Celta de Vigo:

Celta de Vigo went 3-0 last weekend at Atletico Madrid and saw her deficit at number seven Girona up to five points. With ten game rounds to go, the formation of Juan Carlos Unzue still has a chance to win European football, but then the home duel against the club in Malaga has to score three points.

In any case, it is good news that Celta de Vigo returns to the familiar Balaidos this weekend. The Galicians already lost four times in a row, but in their own home are six official games in a row undefeated, including a very meritorious 1-1 draw against FC Barcelona in the Copa del Rey. This is mainly due to the focus of the attack duo Maxi Gomez and Iago Aspas, that this football season is jointly good for no less than 29 goals, or more than 64 percent of the total goal production. However, the great Achilles heel is the defense, which in the last 25 competition duels did well twice the goal of keeping clean. At the beginning of this season, goalkeeper Sergio Alvarez lost his spot to Ruben Blanco, but both keepers are actually short of the level that Celta de Vigo strives for. The moderate defensive center consisting of Sergi Gomez and Facundo Roncaglia or Gustavo Cabral does not help either, while the backs Jonny and Hugo Mallo often prefer attacking rather than defending. In terms of number of goals, Celta de Vigo belongs to the subtop at home, but in terms of number of goals it does not get any further than the right one.

Malaga:

It is over and close for Malaga, which lost again last weekend FC Barcelona: 0-2. The last team from Andalucia did not stand a chance against the leader from Catalonia, who could even afford to give Lionel Messi a break to experience the birth of his third child. With only thirteen points, the relegation of Malaga is a certainty.

Only with a miracle (read: if the ten remaining matches yield thirty points) we will see Málaga again at the highest level next season. That, of course, never happens, because the blue-whites are with seven defeats in a row working on their worst series ever at the highest level. Particularly the lack of scoring ability is a big problem with only sixteen goals in 28 rounds. In no less than nineteen games, the South Spaniards did not score, which is the highest number of all clubs in the five major European competitions. The average of only 7.1 goal attempts per game is sad, while Los Boquerones also have the least goal attempts between the posts. Incidentally, the South Spaniards are leading in terms of number of red cards. Midfielder Samuel Garcia had the dubious honor to write the eighth red card of Malaga this season. No, the season can be better for Malaga as soon as possible. Chairman Abdulah Al-Thani has already resigned to the upcoming relegation, as he has already announced that coach Jose Gonzalez will finish the season anyway.
