AZ Alkmaar vs Antwerp PREVIEW & PREDICTION 22/08/2019

Thursday, August 22, starting at 19:30 pm, Alkmaar will meet Antwerp in the first leg of the Europa League playoff.

In the previous rounds, the host group passed by Hacken after 0-0 at home and 3-0 away and by Mariupol, 0-0 “out” and 4-0 at home. In addition to these matches in the Europa League, Alkmaar also played 3 matches in the domestic competition, recording 2 wins and one draw. It is noteworthy that the team led by Arne Slot has not even scored a goal in the 7 matches played in all competitions this season.

On the other side, the guests played only one tour in the Europa League, managing to pass Plzen. On its own ground, Antwerp prevailed with 1-0, and in the Czech Republic at the end of the 90 minutes was led by 1-0. Thus, it went into overtime, where the Czech team made 2-0, and the group led by L. Boloni obtained the qualification in the 113th minute, through the goal scored by D. Mbokani.
Antwerp started the domestic season well, where he collected 9 points in the first 4 rounds. It is worth noting that the same D. Mbokani (5 goals) and L. Refalov (4 goals) managed to score 9 of the 11 successes of the team.

Alkmaar has the first chance at victory and considering that he has not scored a goal in the 7 matches played this season in all competitions, most likely Arne Slot footballers will try to keep their opponents away from the gate. On the other side, L. Boloni has an extremely attractive offensive couple, but it remains to be seen how much he will force from an offensive point of view in this move. In these conditions, we expect a first-hand not very spectacular.
