Champions-League-Schedule-2014

Champions League Group G (Phase 3) – Chelsea vs. Maribor – tonight at 21:45

Extremely balanced situation in Group G of the Champions League tonight. Chelsea is the leader and should not have emotions, but otherwise all three teams hoping to qualify. It will be extremely important to follow the duel between Schalke and Sporting Lisbon, but also what decision will take Mourinho in this match with Maribor.

Chelsea should be confident; they lead Group G with four points while Maribor have drawn both Group games so far. This is the first time Chelsea have faced Maribor, or indeed any Slovenian side.

Chelsea are unbeaten in 11 games in all competitions, winning nine. They last lost a game in April, in the second leg of their Champions League semi-final against Atlético Madrid. Maribor are heading to England for the fourth consecutive season. Last season they had to go up against Wigan in the UEFA Europa League group stage, and they lost 3-1 at the DW Stadium.

Maribor was more thinking about the big game in London, losing surprisingly the game on Saturday at home against Celje. In the Champions League, although he gave no one give a chance they havet two points in the match with Sporting and Schalke, both games ending in a draw with the same score, 1: 1.

Tonight in London we do not think they could surrprize us, Chelsea is a strong team and they aready feel the taste of the victory. Mourinho will start the match  with a redoubtable team  because he wants to atake all the three points tonight, in this way he will be more relaxed on the second half of this phase of the competition.

This is the first time that Chelsea will have faced a side from Slovenia in UEFA competition. Their last home match in Europe saw them draw 1-1 against Schalke at the Bridge. Chelsea’s home record in Europe is solid enough to suggest that they aren’t going to get close to being upset, and they have won their last five matches in all competitions, considering just the two goals along the way. The Blues are such heavy favourites for this one that they aren’t value in the outright market, so look elsewhere, such as Chelsea to win to nil, or a decent Correct Score shot perhaps around the Chelsea 2-0 mark.
