Today the two European giants meet in the Champions League group phase, Real Madrid can ensure qualification for the Champions League knockout phase and inflict more misery on a struggling Liverpool. Another victory this week and Real Madrid can  celebrate their place in the last 16. Santiago Bernabeu band is the favorite to keep the trophy at the end of the season but until there is a long way. Ronaldo and colleagues have maximum points in Group B after three stages which showed that they are superior against all opponents. There are no such problems for Real Madrid. New signings Toni Kroos and James Rodríguez are in rich form and the team has now taken its winning run to 11 matches. Currently they have six points over the other three teams in the group, separated only by the goal difference. Real comes after four wins in a row at home, scoring 4.5 goals per game on average.

“We’re playing well at the moment and we are all happy,” ;

“”We have confidence but not fear. We have a highly-professional side. We will lose some games but the team’s professionalism is 100 per cent, both when we win and when we lose.” Ancelotti said, to the Spanish sports daily AS.

Liverpool are languishing down in seventh in the Premier League table, with Saturday’s 1-0 loss to Newcastle United meaning they’ve lost as many games as they’ve won in the competition this season. The team felt the full absence of Daniel Sturridge, the main player in attack, not to mention the departure of Suarez in the summer. The coming of Mario Balotelli  it does not help much the evolution of the team.

Unlikely this season Liverpool is in a visible drop, in the Champions League they are on the 3rd place in the group managed one win in three matches, and after this match it is very possible for them to remain with just three points.

Brendan Rodgers said in his pre-match press conference. “We still very much have the opportunity to qualify from the group. We’re not coming here as a team that is expecting to lose and then look at the other games as games we have to qualify. He will hope his team can take something from this game but will likely set his team up to limit the damage against a free-scoring Madrid side that tore them apart at Anfield.

There have been over 2.5 goals scored in Real Madrid‘s last 3 games in the Champions League (including qualifiers).
