Match preview: Sampdoria – Debrecen

After a 1-1 draw at Eindhoven in the first match of the group, Doria recorded 2 goalless draws in the league against Cagliari and Udinese, while losing to Napoli. This game is the perfect one to bounce back since they have a lot of quality in the squad and only bad luck prevented them to play in the Champions League at this time. Coach Di Carlo will probably rotate some players so Koman will play from the first minute against his country mates, no any other team news being released yet

Awful form

Debrecen is in awful form at the moment, not being able to win a game since a month ago. They were trashed at home in the first group game by Metalist Kharkiv (0-5) and looked really amateurish at times. Their latest results are a 1-2 loss in the Hungarian Cup against mighty Tiszakanyar and a 1-4 loss against Siofok. This says about everything concerning their form.

Comfortable home win

Doria is a traditionally strong team at home and, even if Di Carlo will use a mixed squad, they will simply have too much for the Hungarians. The quality gap is huge and Debrecen’s form is awful so, anything else than a comfortable Doria win will be a big surprise for me. Sampdoria -1,75 is my call. Good luck!

Match preview: Hajduk Split – Anderlecht

Hajduk is in an excellent shape, which they proved over the past few months, firstly in their domestic cup when they took it on some lowly Rudar side, scoring like 12 goals in one game or something, and beat Varteks in the league by 2:0. Hajduk is a very good squad and this season they relied on the domestic players, not hiring any foreigners which might be the recipe to finally end Dinamo Zagreb’s domination. They’ve lost on the road to AEK by 3:1 in the first round of EL, and in case of a second loss, they’ll be quite distant from advancing. In my opinion, Hajduk could snatch a win but we’re yet to see what will happen.

From Champions League to Europa League

It seems like RSCA was living to play in Champions League, as they really seem not to be in the mood for this competition. They were defeated in the first round of EL to Zenit by 1:3, a team that’s actually in great form these days. My opinion is that Anderlecht, despite that loss, is still one of the main favs for going through along with the Russian squad. Anderlecht is an excellent side, which might even belong in CL but they’re not showing that excellence on the Euro scene, while in the domestic league they’re dominant as usual, recently winning against Mechelen by 5:0 at home. I believe they can score a few goals at this match, and if they have get up on the right foot, maybe they even win.

There shall be goals

Both sides recorded identical defeats in their first-round EL clashes. Hajduk lost to AEK Athens away, while Anderlecht lost at home to Zenit, both by 3:1. Now both sides will be attacking and going for the win and my suggestion here is to try with the over as I expect to see some open football. Good luck!

Match preview: Utrecht – Liverpool

Probable starting eleven: Vorm; Nesu, Wuytens, Schut, Cornelisse; Asare, Lensky, Silberbauer; Duplan, Van Wolfswinkel, Danso.

Utrecht started the European campaign with a draw against Napoli at San Paolo in Naples. It is a good result, no doubt about that. But even better result was in the last qualification round. Utrecht was some kind of outsider against Scotish giant Celtic. After Celtic won 2:0 at home everybody thought Utrecht is out, but the Dutch team played one unbelievable performance in the second leg and won with 4:0. Coach Coach Ton du Chatinier has no big problems with injuries ahead of this game.

Another bad season

Reina; Kelly, Carragher, Skrtel, Agger; Poulsen, Meireles; Kuyt, Gerrard, Joe Cole; Torres.

Liverpool started the European campaign with a victory over Steaua Bucharest with 4:1 at Anfield. The goals were scored by Joe Cole, Lucas Leiva and Davide N`Gog (two goals). But this result is one of the rare Liverpool successful results. In the Premiership Liverpool is playing awful, coach Roy Hodgson is under big pressure, the fans are not satisfied etc.

Guests are better

I was waiting to see the formation that Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson will use today. When I saw that he intent to play with the best players including the captain Steven Gerrard, best striker Fernando Torres and Dirk Kuyt, then I think Liverpool is closer to victory. The quality is on their side, so Utrecht can`t resist. The only advantage for Utrecht is home ground, but Liverpool players are very experienced and that shouldn`t be a problem.

Match preview: PSG – Karpaty Lviv

They played the first match in the group of the Europa League against Sevilla FC. Antoine Kombouaré lined up a mixed team to meet Spanish team, because it seemed that PSG didn’t take too seriously this competition, but they found a poor Sevilla FC and they managed a juicy victory (0-1) against Andalusian team.
Now they seem to want to progress the group as leaders and they will want to take advantage of Sevilla FC’s problems.

The team might be:Tlumak, Milosevic, Tubic, Godwin, Kozhanov, Zenjov, Petrivskyy, Khudobyak Holodyuk, Batista (Kopolovets) and Avelar.

Dangerous Ukrainian Team

I’m not usually betting in this kind of wagers, but these odds are absolutely amazing. I consider as a good and appealing option to bet on “Both Teams to Score” in this match. Match preview: Manchester City – Juventus

After hundreds of millions were pumped into this squad, Mancini has no right to fail on any plan and he knows it very well. That’s why City is treating this competition seriously, proving it in the first game where they managed a comfortable 2-0 win at Salzburg. They are boosted by their late league win against Chelsea and everything seem to be right on track for them. Mancini already announced he will field all his big guns in today’s game and he will not repeat the mistakes from Carling Cup’s game against WBA, where he used 6 youngsters.

Poor form

Juve’s start of the season is not promising at all. Del Neri changed the system so a player of Diego’s caliber couldn’t find his position so he was sold. Bad deal, considering un talented mugs like Simone Pepe are regulars game by game… Anyway, they were close to a big shame in the first game against Lech and they showed some horrible piece of defending, especially for an Italian club of Juve’s stature.

Home win

At this moment, City is way stronger than Juve and this is also reflected in the odds. While City will use his best team it is yet unknown what Juve’s approach will be, since they also have a lot of problems in Serie A. Either way, I doubt they could solve their defensive issues so fast, while their creativity resides in throwing balls in the area and hoping for a lucky header. Nice odds to try a home win.

Match preview: Rosenborg – Aris

Rosenborg are great at home, they have turned their stadium into fortress over the last couple of years and i really believe that they will win this match against Aris at home. Rosenborg are very solid in their league, as they have 57 points from 25 matches and are currently 1st. They have a good goal difference of +29 and against a Greece side i really believe they will win, especially against Aris.

Aris weak away from home

Aris are a weak side when it comes to away games. They may have taken some results lately away from home, but i think that was luck, you could see that last year they were struggling on their travels in the league and a travel to such place as Rosenborg will be too much for them and i think that they will lose here.

Rosenborg to win

I will go for the Rosenborg win here. With this home advantage which is huge in this match as they are very good at home, while Aris are very weak on their travels i think that here it should be a home win. Match preview: Gent – Lille

Gent are a good side at home this year, since the start of the season and loses to Dynamo Kiev and Genk, they have recovered well and are now on a 5 game winning streak at home in all competitions. However now they meet a French side in Lille and i expect a match with not much of chances and maybe a 0:0 in the end or 1 goal in some goal.

Lille changed

Lille has changed since last year. Last year they were more attacking and scored more goals, while now their matches are only unders with 2 exceptions the match against Lens which they won 1:4 and the first Europa League match which they lost 1:2 at home. Now they face Gent and i think that it will be more defensive match and with not much chances maybe 1 goal in some net in the end.

Match preview: Sporting Lisbon – Levski Sofia

French forward Garra Dembele is in magnificent form these days. He has scored 17 goals in 14 matches and you`ve read it right. Garra is a very powerful forward, that possesses great shot. His strength allows him to fight successfully with his marker, while his height (1.89m) is superb for heading. Dembele also hits penalties.

Levski with no huge aims today

Levski have not stated that they`re travelling to Portugal for a win. They`ve already won over Gent and sports director Georgi Ivanov admitted that he wants Levski to score in Portugal. Against Sporting it will be very hard and even though I believe Levski could snatch something, it would be after a serious battle. Coach Yasen Petrov will use his favourite 4-2-3-1 formation, leaving Dembele in the center of the attack, with wing support from Mladenov and Joaozinho.

Big value on Dembele to score today

Still, I believe Sporting are not so powerful, as they were in the recent years. The departure of Veloso and Moutinho is surely having a negative impact, so Sporting may need some time to adapt their game without them. Levski will wait on counter-attack at the the beginning and Dembele will hunt the offside traps. His pace and strength will put pressure to the central defenders and could eventually lead to goalscoring occasions. I think @5.00 on Dembele to score is a huge offer, given the fact that the Frenchman have scored 17 goals in 14 matches.

Match preview: Sheriff Tiraspol – Dynamo Kiev

The Moldovian side is one of the weakest sides in Europa League. They have no star players, and are just in the competition because they are the only “semi-pro” team in Moldovia. Hosting the Ukranian giants is a big pleasure, but they will have a hard time that is for sure. Their coach said that he is afraid that his team is not up for the tensions in this match and that they could feel the pressure. They miss one of their best players, Franca. Having watch them fighting with Dinamo Zagreb a month ago, when Dinamo was very weak, I somehow can`t shake off the feeling that they.

Dynamo power

Dynamo Kiev were unlucky not to reach the Champions League,having battled hard against Ajax Amsterdam. They are hugely motivated to do well in Europa League, and are favourites of their group. Possesing such a great team, they will look to win this match despite being away. Having 3 great strikers like Milevskyy, Shevchenko and Guilherme, they are a big threat to Sheriff. The whole team is in great spirit, playing together for few years now. They really belong to the Champions League.

Ukraine football improving

Having seen Shakhtar easily win in Portugal on Tuesday, we can expect the same when Dynamo visits Sheriff. The small Moldovian team will prove to be inadequate for the Europa League challenges, and should stumble under the pressure and eventually loose against Dynamo Kiev, who are the better team by far. Match preview: Atletico Madrid – Bayer Leverkusen

Atletico Madrid started with a suprising loss to Aris in Greece and have to recover as fast as possible, or else they might not be able to defend their trophy. Losing to Aris is surely count as an upset in Spain, but a failure here would be very dramatic and could harm Atletico`s ambitions. I think it`s not necessary to write about the squad – the presence of Aguero, Forlan and Simao is enough to consider Atletico a favourite against most of the European clubs. 2-0-1 for Madrid side at home on domestic stage (loss to mighty Barcelona), so everything is going normal.

Missing some forwards

Leverkusen are without Kiessling and Helmes for the trip to Madrid and that`s frustrating news, bacause Derdiyok won`t be able to make it alone. A satisfying performance for Bayer on domestic stage so far – only one loss (to Gladbach – 3:6!). It`s a bit of luck that Leverkusen have not lost more than once, cause they are making mistakes pretty often and should be punished for that. Castro and Ballack are also sidelined, so the problems are becoming too many.

Atletico to take the vital win

The win here is of a big importance to Atletico and they must record it. It won`t be easy against Leverkusen for sure, but the Spanish are the title holders and should give it up without fight. The away side defense is error-prone and we know that Atletico don`t need many goalscoring occasion in order to score some goals.
